What’s so good?

Okay, credit to my wife on this one. She stumbled across Balu Brigada’s “Politix” and convinced me to listen to it, and boy was she right.

My first reaction was: “Dang, this sounds like The Strokes.” My second reaction was: “You know what, if The Strokes released new music today, this is exactly what I’d want it to sound like.

Is it the juicey bassline that kicks in around 0:50? Is it a slightly modern edge to it all? Is it a hint of The Jungle Giants? I dunno exactly, but it’s packaged together so perfectly that I’m not in the least bit surprised to note that as of my writing this, they’ve got 4.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
