What’s so good?

Not sure if it’s just me, but Aussie bands seem to be popping up everywhere lately. Royel Otis is blowing up, and there’s a steady stream of others making noise too.

Now here’s the twist: Ducks Ltd. is actually from Toronto. But their lead singer, Evan Lewis, is Aussie, and you can hear it. There’s something about the jangly guitars and emotional punch that feels straight out of the southern hemisphere.

Their track “18 Cigarettes” is probably their best-known, and it walks that perfect line between melancholy and riffy. You can play it when you’re feeling down, or when you’re weirdly upbeat—it works either way.

Give it a spin. It’s one of those songs that sneaks up on you and sticks around.
