Bloody Tourist – Goodbye 79 (Ft. Tessa Rose Jackson)
Sounds like:
Big Thief, Sufjan Stevens, Laura Marling,
What’s so good?
This is an exciting one that reminds me of indie music from the early 2000s. It’s emotive, unique, and captivating.
The vocals — from the duo as well as the featuring artist, Tessa Rose Jackson — are smooth, the instrumentals are intricate, and the lyricism is right up my alley: wonderfully abstract, with the ability to come to life in the mind of anyone who listens. Lines such as “Does a lonely garden bloom for a lifetime?” stand out.
“It’s about endings that aren’t sad—just strange and beautiful. You’re not mourning something, you’re honouring it. There’s joy in moving on.” — Bloody Tourist
The release of “Goodbye 79” teases Bloody Tourist’s debut album, Love Was a Big Thing, due later this year, and best believe my ears and eyes will be peeled for the release.
